The Seward Coastal Crew

Owner/Captain Joshua Jackson

Captain Joshua has been working on boats out of Seward for 20 years. After moving to Seward from Colorado he quickly fell in love with working on the water and the community of Seward.

During these years he has spent the winters working with whales in Hawaii, helping with deliveries off the coast of Mexico, to first mate on yachts in the Caribbean. Most recently Joshua has enjoyed downtime during the winter traveling and exploring with his wife Audrey and two boys, River and Silas.

During the 20+ summer seasons working on tour boats and fishing boats all Joshua could think about was '“how amazing it would be to just pull up to the beach, walk off and explore’.” Now Joshua has realized that dream with the building of the Ascension.

As one of your Captains, Joshua is excited to share with you the humbling coast line of Kenai Fjords National Park and Resurrection Bay.

Captain Nick Siemer

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Nick first visited Alaska on a family trip as a teenager and knew this is The Place. After earning a degree in biology, his next move was to spend a summer on the Kenai Peninsula and has been coming back to work on tour boats and fishing charters out of Seward ever since. His winters have been spent crewing aboard tourism vessels in Central America and skiing in Utah, but most recently grooming the slopes at Girdwood’s Alyeska Resort.

Nick loves to bring people off the beaten path and looks forward to exploring Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park with you!

Deckhand Danny Meuninck

Danny came up to Alaska a decade ago as a student with the National Outdoor Leadership School and immediately decided that he needed to move to Alaska. He's spent the past 10 years as a resident of Seward working the summer months on the waters of Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park as a professional sea kayak guide and deckhand.

Once winter arrives, Danny has used his background in education and as a trained Wilderness First Responder to work various jobs including assisting in the local school system, providing care in the emergency room of the Seward hospital, teaching outdoor education for an international school in Singapore and occasionally heading to Hawaii to gain sea time as he works towards his captain's license.

Danny has a breadth of experiences in Alaska he enjoys sharing with guests and looks forward to showing you what makes the Last Frontier State of Alaska such an incredible place.

Deckhand Andrew Smith

The Kenai Peninsula has been Andrew’s summer home “office” and playground during the past four summers and one chilly winter. On the water and off the water he have experienced this wild state in a multitude of different situations. From backpacking in Denali and Wrangell – St. Elias national parks to floating the Kenai river in search of “reds” (sockeye), Alaska has never let him down. Andrew has even had the opportunity to drive down the Dalton Highway from Prudhoe Bay on the Beaufort sea. His true passion is for exploring Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords National Park. In the past he has guided and toured via a kayak, but this summer he is elated to be serving as a deckhand aboard the Ascension for Seward Coastal Charters.
